AMD Assures Minimal Impact from Recent Cyberattack
Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) announced that a recent cyberattack led to the theft of a limited amount of information, reporting that the breach is not expected to significantly affect its operations. The company, which is the second-largest manufacturer of PC processors, began its investigation after Intelbroker, an organization linked to the breach, claimed responsibility for the cyberattack.
AMD, based in Santa Clara, believes that sensitive, business-critical information was not compromised during the infiltration. This is particularly important as AMD closely competes with Nvidia Corp. in the development of advanced artificial intelligence accelerators, making its proprietary data highly valuable.
According to a company spokesperson, the compromised data was related to specifications used for assembling certain AMD products and was accessed through a third-party vendor’s site. Despite this, AMD reassured stakeholders that the data breach is not anticipated to have any material impact on their business or operations.
