Vale's CEO Succession: 15 Candidates Presented to the Board
SAO PAULO - Brazilian mining giant Vale is in the process of selecting a new CEO, and consulting firm Russell Reynolds has proposed 15 potential candidates to the company's board of directors, according to a report by local newspaper O Globo.
Candidates from Leading Companies
The list includes notable leaders from prominent Brazilian companies. Among them are Francisco Gomes Neto of Embraer, Gustavo Werneck of Gerdau, and Cristiano Teixeira of Klabin. Vale, known as one of the world's significant iron ore producers, aims to announce the new chief executive by early December. The new CEO will replace Eduardo Bartolomeo, who will aid in the transition until February 2025.
Additional Noteworthy Names
The report highlighted other candidates such as Pedro Parente, former head of Brazil’s state-run oil giant Petrobras and ex-chief of staff for former President Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Other notable figures listed include Pablo Di Si of Volkswagen America, Ruben Fernandes of Anglo American, Carlos Piani of Equatorial, and Mauricio Bahr of Engie Brasil.
Vale's Response and Recent Developments
Vale has not provided an immediate comment on this matter. Recently, the company committed to quickly replacing two independent board members who resigned in the past few months. One of the resigning members pointed to allegations of political influence affecting the CEO succession process.
While the mining giant navigates these leadership transitions, the industry eagerly awaits the announcement of its new CEO, who will play a pivotal role in steering the company’s future.
