Leonardo Collaborates with Thales and Airbus for New Space Sector Strategy
Leonardo, an Italian aerospace and defense conglomerate, has entered into a collaboration with France's Thales and Airbus to craft a "new strategic vision" for the space industry, according to statements made by CEO Roberto Cingolani in the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of parliament, on Tuesday.
Exploring New Partnerships
Airbus and Thales are currently in preliminary discussions about potentially merging certain space-related activities, particularly focusing on their overlapping satellite operations. The aim of this potential merger is to address the increasing competition that is reshaping the space sector.
Existing Joint Ventures
Leonardo and Thales already have established collaborations in the space industry through their joint ventures, Telespazio, which provides satellite services, and Thales Alenia Space, a space manufacturing entity.
