Microsoft Unveils Designer App for iOS and Android
In an exciting development, Microsoft has announced the wide availability of its new Designer app for iOS and Android users. This app, much like Canva, empowers individuals to create images and designs using text prompts. From stickers and greeting cards to invitations and collages, the creative possibilities are vast. Now supporting over 80 languages, Designer can be accessed both as a standalone service and through an app in Windows.
Jumpstarting Creativity with Prompt Templates
The app comes equipped with "prompt templates" aimed at sparking the creative process. These templates offer a variety of styles and descriptions for users to experiment with and personalize. Further enhancing collaboration, templates can also be shared among users to build on each other's creations. Beyond stickers, Designer allows users to generate emojis, clip art, wallpapers, monograms, and avatars, all with simple text inputs.
Advanced Image Editing with AI
Designer isn't just about creating new images; it also offers AI-powered tools for editing and restyling existing photos. For example, you can upload a selfie and modify it by selecting different styles and adding specific details. In the near future, the app will include a "replace background" feature, which will enable users to transform photos using text prompts.
Integration with Microsoft Office Apps
Alongside the launch of the standalone Designer app, Microsoft also revealed plans to integrate the service into other applications like Word and PowerPoint through Copilot. Individuals with a Copilot Pro subscription will soon be able to create images and designs directly within their workflow. An upcoming feature will even allow users to generate document banners in Word based on the content of their document.
Enhanced Photo Editing with Microsoft Photos
As part of this major update, Microsoft Photos is receiving deeper integration with Designer. This means users can now leverage AI to edit photos without ever leaving the Photos app, making it possible to erase objects, remove backgrounds, and auto-crop images seamlessly within the app.
With these significant advancements, Microsoft Designer is poised to become a powerful tool for both casual and professional users, enabling creativity and collaboration in entirely new ways.
