Microsoft Settles Antitrust Complaint with CISPE Over Cloud Computing Practices
Microsoft has finalized an agreement to address an antitrust complaint raised by CISPE regarding its cloud computing licensing practices. As part of the resolution, Microsoft will create a product that allows CISPE members to operate Microsoft software on their own platforms, utilizing Microsoft's Azure cloud infrastructure. This new offering will be priced equivalently to Microsoft’s own pricing structure.
Additionally, Microsoft has agreed to compensate CISPE members for revenue losses connected to licensing costs incurred over the past two years. This settlement aims to resolve tensions and ensure a fairer competitive environment for the cloud computing market.
These steps are expected to promote a more level playing field within the cloud sector, benefiting both Microsoft and CISPE members by fostering more competitive practices and reducing potential financial burdens related to software licensing.
