Nvidia Corp. is set to bid farewell to Simona Jankowski, the company’s Vice President who has been instrumental in managing investor relations and strategic finance. Jankowski announced her departure to join a startup as its Chief Financial Officer via a LinkedIn post on Monday, though she did not disclose the name of the startup but promised more details soon. She has refrained from making any additional comments regarding her move.
Jankowski, a seasoned professional with a background as an analyst for Goldman Sachs Group Inc., joined Nvidia in 2017. During her tenure, she played a crucial role in steering the company's financial strategy amidst its rapid growth. Nvidia's graphics processors, initially popular with computer gamers, have evolved to become indispensable for artificial intelligence infrastructure, significantly boosting the company’s sales and market valuation. Despite recent fluctuations, the company’s market capitalization remains close to $3 trillion.
Under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang, Nvidia has become a central player in the ongoing AI boom, which Huang has hailed as a “new industrial revolution.” Jankowski reflected on her journey with Nvidia in her post, mentioning her first encounter with Huang in 2001 when she was assigned to build a financial model for the company as a Goldman Sachs analyst. She expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to work closely with Huang, describing it as the “experience of a lifetime.”
